Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Flickr Terms of Use

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) provides leadership in the growth and development of a competitive, innovative and sustainable Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector.

By using Flickr you are bound by the Yahoo Canada Terms of Service and its related policies and rules, which govern your access to and use of Flickr. You are strongly encouraged to read them.

By participating in, subscribing to, joining or following AAFC's Flickr account, you are also agreeing to AAFC's Terms of Use. These terms do not modify your agreement with Flickr.

AAFC's use of Flickr is intended to encourage interaction between the user of this platform and AAFC. AAFC does not endorse any of the views in comments posted by users.

AAFC currently manages two corporate Flickr accounts:

AAFC's Terms of Use are reviewed on a periodic basis and may be amended at any time. Check this page on AAFC online to obtain the latest Terms of Use.

AAFC does not endorse any particular social media site or tool.

The Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Flickr accounts (AAFC_Canada and AAC_Canada) are mainly used as an alternative method for accessing many of the images posted on AAFC online. If you are looking for more information about the Department, information is available on the AAFC Canada website.

Links to Other Websites

Links to websites not under the control of the Government of Canada from our Flickr channels are provided solely for the convenience of users. Neither AAFC nor the Government of Canada is responsible for the accuracy, currency or reliability of the content on these sites. The Government of Canada does not offer any guarantee in that regard and is not responsible for the information found through these links, nor does it endorse the sites and their content.

Posting Frequency

The number of images posted will vary; depending on when new content becomes available. During some periods, we may post significantly more or fewer images than average. Images will be posted Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST/EDT, with limited activity on weekends. Any activity during holidays, after core hours and on weekends would likely be along the lines of emergency or urgent communications of significant value to followers. Otherwise, the pages will be relatively inactive during these times.

AAFC’s Flickr channels may be subject to downtime that is beyond AAFC’s control due to the Flickr network becoming unresponsive or unavailable.

AAFC subscribes to other Government of Canada Flickr channels as well as certain relevant organizations and professional associations with a mandate similar to the Department's.

AAFC's decision to subscribe to a particular Flickr channel does not imply endorsement of any kind. AAFC subscribes to channels on Flickr that are relevant to AAFC's mandate and to the work of other government agencies and departments. AAFC may also subscribe to Flickr channels of non-profit organizations and associations with images or photostreams of agriculture, science and food as it pertains to AAFC. You are required to have a valid Flickr account to subscribe to AAFC’s Flickr channel.

Subscribers, Contacts and Testimonials

The appearance of the AAFC account as a contact of a Flickr user does not imply endorsement, nor does AAFC subscribing to any particular photostream or listing any particular user as a contact.

We will only take steps to remove or block subscribers or contacts if they do not abide by this Flickr Policy. Users may also be reported to Flickr if they do not comply with Yahoo Canada Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

At this time, AAFC "Favourites" only include images from other Government of Canada institutions and organizations that we believe are relevant to the mandate of our work. This could include images from non-profit organizations, associations and other governmental agencies.

The appearance of any particular photo as a "favourite" of AAFC does not imply endorsement.

Feedback and Messages

Feedback and interaction is highly encouraged. All image and photostream comments, as well as email sent to the Flickr account will be read, and any emerging themes or helpful suggestions will be passed to the relevant people in the department. Although we are not able to reply individually to all messages, they will be handled on a case-by-case basis and responded to when deemed appropriate.

If we feel a comment or a question posed to AAFC requires a response and/or a greater level of detail, we may develop a formal response and distribute the information through other channels such as our website or other social media channels. We will pay attention to emerging themes and helpful suggestions and look forward to this potential interaction.

Reporters are asked to send questions to the appropriate individual in Media Relations.

AAFC cannot engage in issues of party politics or answer questions that break the rules of our commenting policy.

Flickr, as a third party service provider, is not bound by Government of Canada policies for web accessibility.

The Government of Canada is committed to achieving a high standard of accessibility and is working to address issues with third-party service provider platforms. Images provided by AAFC on its Flickr channel are available on our departmental website.

Information posted by AAFC is subject to the Copyright Act of Canada. For more information, see the Terms and conditions page on the AAFC Web site.

Official Languages

AAFC respects the Official Languages Act and is committed to ensuring that information products are available in both French and English, of equal quality where required under the Official Languages Act. Images will be posted simultaneously in both official languages.

English images on Flickr
French images on Flickr

Through the very nature of the social media forum, content may vary between the English and French Flickr accounts, particularly where messages and comments are concerned. Any comments that originate from AAFC will be made available in both official languages. As well, comments, and questions received in one official language on one account could be summarized and translated in the other official language and provided to the other account page.

By participating in AAFC's Flickr channel, users are consenting to the possibility that their comments could be summarized and translated by AAFC.

Users should be aware that some links posted on the AAFC Flickr channel may direct users to sites of organization or other entities that are not subject to the Official Languages Act and that those sources are only available in the language in which they are written.

The Flickr interface is available in multiple languages including English and French. To change the interface's language settings, select either "English" or "French" from the language selection menu available in Flickr’s Web site footer (at the bottom of the Flickr web page).

AAFC’s Flickr channels are not Government of Canada Web sites. They represent our presence on Flickr, a third-party service provider. Users are encouraged to read Flickr's privacy policy.

Information shared with AAFC on Flickr is subject to the provisions of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. Therefore, information you post to our channel may be copied, stored, accessed and disclosed in response to a request under either of these Acts.

Any personal information collected through this process is authorized by the Financial Administration Act, and in accordance with the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada and described in Standard Personal Information Bank PSU 938, Outreach Activities.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Employee Use of Flickr
