About the consultation
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has launched a consultation regarding the review of the Canada Grain Act. This consultation seeks your views and ideas on how the Canada Grain Act and/or the operations of the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) could better meet the needs of the grain sector. The consultation will be open from January 12, 2021 to April 30, 2021.
Led by AAFC, the Canada Grain Act review is intended to ensure an innovative and modern regulatory system that safeguards grain farmers, enhances Canada's reputation for grain quality, and strengthens international competitiveness. Your feedback will help identify ways to improve Canada's grain quality assurance system and producer protection framework.

What to include in your feedback
- The Discussion document is designed to help you initiate overall discussion and engagement.
- The questions can be used as a guide, but should not limit your feedback.
- When possible, include a rationale and supporting elements of your views. This will assist decision-making on any potential changes to the Canada Grain Act.
- AAFC will compile all the feedback received from this consultation process as input to the Canada Grain Act review.
- A summary of this feedback will be published in a ‘what we heard’ report.

Purpose of the collection
Consultation activities are defined as a process where the Government of Canada invites organizations and/or individuals to provide their views on a variety of topics—to help develop better, more informed and more effective policies, programs and services.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
- in-person meetings or events (roundtable meetings or meetings with stakeholders, town halls, public meetings, forums, workshops, advisory committees)
- online consultations (surveys, discussion forums, social media)
- oral or written submissions (telephone, email, fax or mail)
Participation is voluntary
Participation in all Government of Canada consultation activities is voluntary. Acceptance or refusal to participate will in no way affect your relationships with the Government of Canada.
Authority to collect information
Your personal information is collected under the authority of the Financial Administration Act (FAA). Your personal information will be managed and administered in accordance with FAA, the Privacy Act and other applicable laws.
Uses and disclosures of your personal information
Uses and/or disclosures of your personal information will never result in an administrative decision being made about you. Your responses may be used by the Government of Canada or other levels of government for policy analysis, research, program operations and/or communications.
Handling of your personal information
Information provided for Government of Canada surveys and consultation activities should not include any identifying personal information about you or anyone else—other than your name, organization and contact information. If personal information is provided we will remove it prior to including the individual’s responses in the data analysis, unless otherwise noted.
